January 22 at the Fayette County Courthouse will forever be engraved in our hearts!
Nineteen weeks ago we were able to take Work Life into the Fayette County jail. Now we have just completed the 1st 19-session course in the jail with 4 amazing graduates! It has been such a blessing to teach and walk this journey with them! We can't even express just how loved these guys are by God, our team, and Fayette Baptist Church! Thank you Lord! Following the last day of class and a graduation ceremony we werre able to provide them with a fellowhip meal (King of Wings) enjoyed with their families!
Our graduation ceremony included a brief word from Kenyl Bryant and we were all blessed by our guest speaker and singer Danny Cosy. A HUGE THANK YOU to Judge Gallagher, Judge McCraw, Sheriff Riles, Chief Turner, Chief Dollahite, and all the many luitenants and deputies that made this possible!! Also, a Huge Thank You to Diane Lucas and my partner Jennifer Eggen, among countless others that played a role in this! Truly, 'our cup runs over'! God is doing great things in Fayette County and we are so blessed!
As our second Work Life Course comes to a close, we have many great memories to look back on and much hope for the future! We have 2 graduates this term that have put in a lot of hard work, not to mention a team of great volunteers that we could not do without! Praise God for His faithfulness as we seek to love our neighbors in practical ways meeting practical needs. He truly has given us everything we have needed to do all that He has called us to do!
We have enjoyed much study, skits, and games learning how the work world works and where we fit in it. We have learned how God created us in His image with many unique gifts and abilities and that we bring glory to Him and add value to the world around us through work! Learning God's original design for our lives helps us to better understand our purpose.
Work Life is all about walking along side our neighbors, learning together, and supporting each other. We have built some good relationships with our participants and are so very blessed to have gotten to know them.
The Work Life Ministry was a blast last year! From the Lord pressing it into our hearts and showing us the great need in our community to Him opening up all the doors for our training and for us to launch our first class at The Grove in Somerville, TN. The Lord continues to expand our team with people in love with Jesus and our community. We are all so blessed to be a part of this and trust that the Lord is going to continue to do great things here in Somerville and through out Fayette County.
A New Year is upon us and we have many hopes and dreams for it. We are scheduled to start our next Work Life Classes starting January 15 and running three days per week for 6 weeks. It is all just around the corner and we will keep you posted.
Please keep this ministry in your prayers as we need so much wisdom as to how to make the biggest impact in our community!
On October 10, 2017 we launched our very first Work Life Course here in Fayette County. November 10, 2017 will be the last day of our first Work Life Course. It has been an incredible journey with our participant in which we have been able to strive, struggle, and grow together. We have all grown so much together in who we are and who we were created to be. This has been an intensive 5-week, 4-day a week program. Through it we have learned that God created us with purpose and has equipped us to add value to His world through work. We have watched the self-esteem and confidence grow all around us as we work side by side with our first participant. It is amazing to realize that no matter what your past is, there is always HOPE! Our past does not have to determine our future but we must be able to learn from our past in order to change the course of our future!
Thank you so much to ALL who helped make our first Work Life Course a success! It has taken many hands working together, many prayers offered, and many dollars donated to accomplish this task!
